Seventeen historic companies from five different regions of Italy will open to visitors and show their manufacturing excellence and cultural heritage: from Piacenza Cashmere 1733’s fine yarns (Pollone, Biella) to Amarelli 1731’s liquorice (Rossano, Cosenza), from Poli 1898’s grappa (Schiavon, Vicenza), Giuseppe Giusti 1605’s balsamic vinegar (Modena), and the 'ultra-centenarian' wines from Barone Ricasoli 1141 (Brolio, Siena) and Marchesi Antinori 1385 (Florence), to the internationally renowned essences from Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella 1612 (Florence).
A discovery tour of the longest-lived and most inimitable Made in Italy brands, rooted in the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Risorgimento, and still enhancing the Bel Paese’s repute until today.
The "Ultra-centenarian Companies’ Road" project, including a video installation on historic brands like the key-manufacturer Bianchi 1770, the photographic workshop Fratelli Alinari 1852 (Florence), Tessitura Busatti 1842 (Anghiari, Arezzo), and the sculpture workshop Nicoli 1830 (Carrara ), was presented on Saturday, June 20th by the Italian Historic Companies Association (45 members with a business history of at least 100 years) at Expo 2015, Intesa Sanpaolo Hall (Milan).
