"The Trademark: civil and criminal enforcement" is the title of the conference organized by the Italian Historic Companies Association and scheduled for Friday, March 24, 2017 at the headquarters of Luigi “Cecchi e Figli 1893”, in Castellina in Chianti (Siena). The conference is included in the traditional "Spring Meeting" of the association, made up of 46 outstanding Made-in-Italy brands from eight different Italian regions.
Two eminent Florentine lawyers Manfredi Burgio (criminal law specialist) and Alessandro Becattini (civil law specialist) will give a speech on a delicate and topical matter that is critically relevant for the centenarian business community: the brand and its protection. Prof. Burgio (Professor of Civil Procedure at the Specialization Institute for the Legal Professions of the University of Florence, who mainly deals with litigation in the sector of commercial and industrial law) will outline - in addition to the possibility of protecting the brand in advance - the remedies that are required by law to counter violations by third parties. A. Becattini (reknown conference speaker and law and criminal procedure teacher, who mainly deals with criminal law matters) will focus his speech on the protection of trademarks and brands against national and international aggression.
The program of the Spring Meeting includes a visit to the historic company “Luigi Cecchi and Sons, 1893”, run by Andrea and Cesare Cecchi and capable of producing both large numbers and high-end selections of native Tuscan wines. Over the years, the business has expanded from Chianti Classico to include estates in San Gimignano (the Montauto Castle), in Maremma (Valley of Roses) and Umbria (Tenuta Alzatura) producing, respectively, Vernaccia, Morellino and Sagrantino wines. Currently the properties of Luigi Cecchi e Figli 1893 exceed 300 hectares, with an annual production of about 8 million bottles under 27 different labels.
